VERSATILE VIDEO CODEC (VVC/H.266)

MPEG Roadmap for Video Standards

Versatile Video Coding (H.266) is a new coding standard that compresses video with significantly higher efficiency compared to HEVC (H.265) and AVC (H.264). VVC has implemented many new coding tools including flexible block partitioning and multiple-type trees, bi-prediction with coding unit weights, affine motion compensation, adaptive motion vector resolution, symmetric motion vector difference, and geometric and triangle partition modes.
